History
The Brewery Inn dates back to the 1800s, originating as a 'cottage, beer house and grocery shop' owned by a William and Rhoda Cater. It later operated as a brewery for George Sayer from 1850 to 1910. The brewery was located in the wooden buildings behind the property, with the front of the building operating as a pub. This became a key local spot for most of the 19th century.
The pub is now under freehold ownership of Stonegate Pub Company, originally under the Classic Inn brand which was part Stonegate.
In 2024, Dorking Brewery took over its operation and has since continued the pub's popular reputation. With live music on a Friday night, the Brewery Inn is still a key local spot.
